Australian singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko reveals an internal struggle in her new album, I Awake.

She is coming to Warwick Arts Centre this month as part of an international tour in which audiences will get to see her perform these personal tracks from the self-produced album, which features music by the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra.

Speaking to the Courier ahead of the show, she said: “I Awake is connected to As Day Follows Night [Sarah’s previous album] in the instrumentation - strings, brass, double bass, piano and drums at its core - but it pushes the elements further.

“This time there’s an orchestra and the scope is larger - there’s less space. It’s more of a lush affair. As Day Follows Night had a playfulness to it, whereas I Awake has a heaviness, a darkness.”

At the time of writing the songs, Sarah was living alone in Brighton - the first time she had ever lived away from Sydney.

She said: “The album chronicles a reflective, isolated time in my life - a very internal fight and struggle.”

Sarah Blasko is performing at Warwick Arts Centre on Tuesday November 28 at 7.45pm. Tickets £14.50. Call 024 7652 4524 or visit www.warwickartscentre.co.uk
