Hollie to take to the stage at London’s O2
A YOUNG singer has battled her way through to the grand final of the same national talent competition that launched the careers of pop stars Hattie Keane and Birdy.
Hollie Aires will be performing at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday after beating 3,000 other hopefuls in the Open Mic UK competition. The Avon Valley school pupil is 16 and has lived in Rugby all her life.
She won Rugby’s Got Talent in 2011, has sang at Birmingham Gay Pride, and in London at The Bedford where Ed Sheeran and Katie Tunstall started out, and at various venues in Rugby including the firework display at Winfield Park. Hollie writes her own material as well as doing covers. £50,000 in prize money is available through the competition, with the winner receiving £5,000 the runner up £2,500 and the remaining age category winners will receive £1,000.
The winner will also get a winner’s publicity package, with previous winners being featured in National music press including; Q Magazine, Rewind Magazine, Mojo Magazine, RWD and Flavour Magazine. Part of the voting will be a text vote which can be sent via 86222 at a cost of £1 each.
