Rugby man Edmund cycles for charity in mum’s memory
A Rugby man is saddling up to raise money in memory of his mother who died from breast cancer aged 43.
Edmund Murray is taking part in a four-day ride from London To Paris on August 14 for Breast Cancer Campaign.
He said: “When I was only 12 years old my mother Janice Murray was diagnosed with breast cancer. I saw firsthand how devastating the disease was.”
Being so young, Edmund thought his mum would get better. He said: “I watched as she lost her hair, her body changed, she went from being a very caring, loving, bubbly mother to someone who struggled to get up.
“I still believed that I would get my mum back and that she would be there to give me my hugs when I hurt myself, to watch me as I grew up, to see me leave home for university, to meet any children I may have, and to see me get married.”
Sadly, Janice died in 1998.
“No-one should go through what me and my mum went through.
“She must have died knowing what she was leaving behind and would have been upset beyond words knowing there was nothing she or the medical world could do to help.”
