There is no justification and it was something that the Advertiser rattled on about when it was first suggested - of course they carried on!
It is a wicked attempt to take advantage of the sick, frail elderly and their families.
The realit
ies of PFI's has been revealed and they were a short term fix for a very long term pain. In his letter, Mark Pawsey accepts the many reasons why car parking charges are bad, so does that mean that the situation should not be changed? Surely a contract which is against the public interest should be 'adjusted'.
Perhaps the government, who amazingly has found a way to bail out banks to the tune of billions, could compensate the investors..?
My points are not political one way or the other. We have supported Andy king in this campaign because it is the right thing. Political bandwagonning or backbiting over past shortcoming is one thing - the most important thing is to get it right for the people who are being forced to put up with the results of the politicians actions.
And, specifically for Rugby, the argument supporting the charges was that people were parking free at St. Cross and walking up into the town centre to do their shopping.
I don't think so!
OK, it's down hill with the full shopping bags, but no, I don't so. I'm not saying that it didn't think happened, but I would certainly rather pay a little to park in the town centre.
And again, is that a reasonable excuse for imposing charges on patients and their families.
It doesn't sound much like a modern. civilised and caring society to me...
