A POPULAR covers band will kick start the long Easter weekend by entertaining drinkers at a Newbold pub tomorrow night (Friday).
The Sicknotes will play a variety of music from across the eras when they take to the stage at The Barley Mow in Newbold from 8.30pm on Good Friday.
The band particularly focus on 60s and 70s music and perform cover songs from The Beatles, Rolling
Stones, Kinks and The Who.
The Sicknotes features Colin Wardles on bass guitar, drummer Paul Otten and lead guitarist Dave Coles, and the trio have been together for around 12 years. The group made a comeback onto the live music scene in Rugby at the end of last year
after taking a few months off from performing.
They have performed a number of successful gigs at a number of town venues over the last few months,
including Quigleys, The Courthouse, William Webb Ellis and The Bear in Bilton.
A spokesman for The Sicknotes said: "We had a great night at The Bear recenlty, it was a real success and we're booked to go back there again in May.
"The band are really enjoying
being back on the music scene. They are all geared up ready for their gigs. They can't wait.
"They had such a long break but they've come back better and stronger. We always have a brilliant night."
The Barley Mow gig starts at 8.30pm, and entry for the event is free.
The Sicknotes are also due to perform at the Woodford Halse Football Club on Sunday, Coundon Working Men's Club, Coventry, on April 11, General Foods, Banbury, on April 24 and The Bear, Bilton on May 1.
