GENEROUS readers of the Rugby Advertiser have continued to back our 'Last Hope' appeal.

The campaign to raise life-saving funds for Rugby cancer sufferers Colin Howe and Russ Jones, has now entered its second month.

Already over £1,200 has been donated by Rugby residents and local companies.

Colin and Russ desperately need your help to stay alive. They have been denied access to the drug Sutent by Warwickshire Primary Care Trust.

The drug could help prolong their lives and costs £3,500 a month.
A special concert was held at the Benn Hall in Newbold Road last Thursday to raise funds for Colin Howe.

The event, organised by Rugby-based dance group Jaide's Stage Studios, raised £2,540.

Dancers from the studios performed, as did James Berryman, the ex-lead singer of Rugby band Attica.

Up-and-coming dance group The Kombat Breakers, best known for their performances on ITV's hit show Britain's Got Talent, also performed.

Colin's wife Susan said: "We were overwhelmed with the response to the show and would like to thank everyone who took part and came along.

"The last few months have been very tough for us but when you see such acts of generosity it's extremely uplifting."

A sponsored walk round Draycote Water has also been organised to raise funds for Colin on September 2 at 10am and participants can run or walk the five mile circular route.

Sponsorship forms can be obtained from Dorothy Perkins in High Street, Rugby, or by calling Susan Howe on 07871 928644.

Anyone interested in donating to the Last Hope Appeal should send cheques - made payable to Rugby Advertiser Charity Event - to Ken McErlain, Rugby Advertiser, 2 Albert Street, Rugby, CV21 2RS.

Cash donations can also be dropped off at our offices in Albert Street.
