Christmas lights switch on 2012: programme of events

FIREWORKS and music will be just some of the festive fun at this year’s Christmas light switch on in Rugby.

The countdown to the Christmas light switch on in Rugby has begun with just over a week left to go before the town is filled with festive spirit.

On Sunday November 25 the fun will commence at the clock tower in the town centre from 12.30pm.

Jason Moss from Rugby FM will host the event which will include live music, dance, games, magic and two special guests - Rugby’s Mayor Cllr Kathryn Lawrence and Father Christmas.

There will also be Christmas stalls, the final of the Choir Idol competition, a fun fair, hog roast, mulled wine and carols from the Salvation Army Band throughout the action packed afternoon of fun and entertainment.

Seven year old Eamon Donnison, will be the special guest, with his finger on the button at 5pm, ready to transform the town centre into a mass of colourful Christmas lights.

The line up of events is as follows:

12:30pm: performance from Hayley’s Impact Dance Academy

1pm: presenters on stage

1-2.15pm: 2012 Choir Idol Competition

2.15pm: performance by the winner of Choir Idol Competition

2.20pm: performance from Magic Man (Joe Ridgely)

2.50pm: presenters on stage to play games

3pm: Michael Buble Tribute (Jordan Williams)

3.30pm: The Skatsville Busters

4pm: Rugby Theatre Panto Song

4.15pm: Jessie J Tribute (Kelly Brazil)

4.45pm: procession to arrive with Father Christmas and the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Kathryn Lawrence

5pm: countdown to Christmas lights with fireworks.

5.05pm: Salvation Army Band Christmas Carols
