IF SINGING spreads a little happiness, then Yelvertoft Ladies’ Choir has pleased its audiences for the last 25 years.
The choir was started 25 years ago by Rose Heaney, wife of the Congregational Church minister, and Frederica Dick, a retired music teacher and member of the congregation.
Tuesday night practices began in the Congregational Church and continue to this day, with a happy group of ladies who enjoy singing and entertaining others.
Choir members come from Yelvertoft and the surrounding villages, and include two founder members.
Over the years, they have enjoyed the leadership of talented conductors, Freddie Dick, Linda Wainscott and their present leader, Alan Leach.
Highlights include taking part in the Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year Competitions and festivals across the Midlands.
Yelvertoft Ladies’ Choir continues to sing for the community at charity concerts, flower festivals, care homes, Christmas celebrations and weddings. To celebrate 25 years of success the choir is hosting a Midsummer Concert with the theme ‘Our Favourite Songs’.
Helen O’Neill, choir chairman, said: “This will truly reflect the singers’ enjoyment of the past 25 years.”
The concert will take place on Friday, June 24, 7.30pm at Yelvertoft Congregational Church.
Tickets cot £5 and will include liquid refreshments.
