Rugby Ambulance Station, Temple Street
Ambulances have changed a little since this photograph was taken in the late 1950s or early 1960s. These were the staff of Rugby’s ambulance station when it was in Temple Street.
Christine Burdett, who has sent it in, says her late mother’s cousin was married to Alec Fisher, who is one of the men on the front row. Christine can name a few of the ambulancemen and women, but hopefully someone will be able to fill in a few of the gaps. On the back row, fourth from left is Phil McCaffrey and she also recognises Harry England.
On the left of the front row was Jack Burton, the station superintendent, Doug Parker, two Christine doesn’t know, then it must have been the mayor at that time, with Joyce Hasdell and Alec Fisher. The rest of the row she can’t name, but she does remember the dog was called Reever and had been adopted by the station.
