Parnell’s cricket team 1949
This is another of photograph from George Faulkner, whose Chapel Street School pictures have generated so much interest.
This one is of Parnell’s cricket team, ready to play at Winfield Recreation Ground in 1949. George, who is now 94, is third from the left on the front row.
The other names he can remember are Roy Batchelor, Ken Clarke, Tom Tyson, David Thrush, Brian Preece, Derek Moseley and Bernard Huckle.
Many people will know Roy Batchelor (on the left of the front row) from his long association with the Rugby Lions. Having shown him the photograph, he can also name Ted Stanley, who was their captain, Don Walton and Ron Pancoust.
