A 'DISGUSTED' off-licence boss has condemned a gun-toting attacker who violently assaulted a helpess teenage store worker
.
The 18-year-old man needed hospital treatment after the attack at Threshers Wine Merchants in Hillmorton Road last Thursday night.

After threatening the man with a gun and kneeing him in the ribs, the robber turned on another female worker at the store - before escaping with cash.

Branch manager Stephen Downey, who was rung by the terrified staff moments after the attack, said: "I couldn't believe it - I'd never experienced a robbery like this before.

"It's just disgusting and unbelievable that this could happen."

The worker was cashing up a till at about 9.50pm when the attacker entered the store.

After brandishing a gun, he made the worker open a till for him, before kneeing him in the ribs.

Another staff member in a side room then attempted to contact police, but was spotted by the attacker.

He forced her into the store's main area before leaving with an undisclosed sum of money - briefly returning after realising he had dropped some notes.

Mr. Downey said the pair were both 'shaken' by the experience.

He said: "It's not nice to be here and I'm just concerned for my staff.

"It's going to be in the back of our minds for the rest of the Christmas period. You just hope it doesn't happen again."

The worker was taken to Rugby's Hospital of St. Cross for treatment, but was later released.

Firearms officers searched the area, but the robber had escaped.

He is described as being of Asian or mixed race appearance.

He was wearing black jogging bottomss with a black Nike hoodie with a motif of a white training shoe on the back.

He was also wearing grey Nike Air trainers and a white shirt.
