Man stabbed in town centre

A YOUNG man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the early hours of this morning (Monday).
The 22 year old local man suffered stab wounds to the abdomen in the attack.

The incident happened near to the Clock Tower.

At about 4.15am the man, who had been out with friends, became involved in a verbal altercation with another male who was not with his group. As a result he was stabbed a number of times causing serious abdominal injuries and a cut to his arm.

He was taken to the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire where he has undergone surgery. His condition is said to be stable.

The offender is described as a white male of slim build, aged 15-17 years and waring a black top and trousers and white trainers.

He made off along Regent Street.

The area around the Clock Tower was sealed off to allow officers to conduct a detailed forensic examination but t has now been released.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the Clock Tower around 4.15am this morning or anyone who has information which would help in their investigation.
