A 19-YEAR-OLD woman has been jailed for nine months after a man died while 'car surfing' on the roof of her vehicle.

Andrew Travers, 18, died after falling from the roof of a Fiat Punto driven by Emma Kimberly on the Chesterton Farm estate in June 2007.

Kimberly, of St James Crescent, Southam appeared at Warwick Crown Court this morning and pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving (Friday, June 27).

She was sentenced to nine months in a young offenders institute.

Speaking after the hearing Sgt Adrian Davis from Warwickshire Police said: "This was a tragic incident involving young people and many lives have been affected.

"The dangers of car surfing have been made apparent and we hope that this will serve as a warning to anyone who would be tempted to take part in this kind of activity."
