Warwickshire Police have issued an appeal for information after the robbery of a woman in the Hillmorton area of Rugby yesterday (Tuesday).

The victim, 38, was walking past the post office on High Street at around 8.30am when she was approached by two men - one of whom snatched her handbag.

The two men then ran off in the direction of Roper Close and Wesley Road.

She was not injured during the incident but left distressed.

The offenders are described as ‘black and in their 20s’.

One was wearing a grey hooded top and the other was dressed in dark clothing with a dark coloured hat.

Det Con Gareth Unett, the investigating officer, said: “This was a nasty robbery on a lone woman who was left extremely shaken.

“The assault took place in broad daylight on a busy road.

“I’m confident people will have seen the men responsible both before and after the incident and we are asking they come forward to help us with our enquiries.

“We are also appealing for any drivers in the area who may have caught the offenders on their vehicle’s dash camera. I ask anyone with footage travelling along High Street, School Street and The Kent between 8am and 9am on Tuesday 21 July to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 74 of Tuesday July 21.
