A NIGHT of glitz and glamour has helped raise £6,250 for two cancer charities.
Visitors to Rugby Cancer Summer Ball put on their fancy hats as Ascot came to Bilton Grange in Dunchurch.
The money will be split between Cancer Research UK and the new cancer centre at Walsgrave’s University Hospital.
The money raised at the summer ball is in addition to the £20,000 that was raised at the spring ball in March.
Organisers would like to thank everybody who supported the ball, which included dinner, dancing, a raffle and even some horse racing.
Sue Medcalf is Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager for Coventry and Warwickshire.
She said: “Thanks to this support we can fund scientists who research into the cures and treatments for cancer.
“We also offer the service of Information Nurses who advise and help patients and their families with any aspect of the disease.”
