The upturn in Rugby’s housing market was featured on Tuesday night’s episode of Newsnight.

Property consultant Chris Shaw provided promising evidence of an improvement so far this this year.

He was interviewed by Newsnight’s economics editor Paul Mason, who said Rugby was the ideal town to visit to look for signs of recovery due to its location.

Chris, who works at Rose & Sargent estate agent in Rugby, said: “We saw it as an opportunity not to be missed.

“It went very well and I found it a really great experience. I enjoyed it a lot and was quite surprised when the cameras started rolling after about 90 seconds of being interviewed.”

He talked about the property market and positive signs of recovery.

“The property market at present is coming off the back of the recession and seeing signs of recovery,” added Chris.

“It is back to almost the peak levels prior to the recession.

“In terms of first-time buyers, things are becoming much more accessible in getting your foot on the ladder. The Government’s Help to Buy has also been a great help.”
