YOUNGSTERS from a school in Brownsover paid their respects by laying a poppy wreath at a war memorial in Rugby.

A group of 150 pupils from Year Three and Six at Boughton Leigh Junior School visited the British Thomson-Houston (BTH) War Memorial on Friday at 11am.

The children had made a poppy wreath and school and laid in on the memorial which was build in 1921 and remembers 418 BTH employees who died during World War One and Two.

Last year the memorial was relocated from the front of the former BTH factory in Mill Road to with the new college campus.

Carl Thornton, headteacher of Boughton Leigh Junior School, said: “The children loved it. We did it last year and they always show a lot of respect. We had good weather as well which made it much better.”
