Popular boy band Union J will be the star guests at the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights this year.

The festive extravaganza, which organisers say will be bigger and better than before, will take place in the town centre on Sunday, November 20.

English boy band Union J, who shot to fame during the X Factor in 2012, will be the special guests at the event.

The fun and activities will begin at midday and include Santa’s grotto, a Christmas market, ferris wheel, bouncy castle, balloon modelling, Punch and Judy shows, circus workshop, face painting, fairground and stage activities.

The event, organised by Rugby First, Rugby FM and Rugby Borough Council, will finish with the switching on of the Christmas lights with Union J and a spectacular fireworks display.

Union J, which now includes current line up Josh Cuthbert, JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley, Casey Johnson, will also perform later that day at the Benn Hall where they will perform a selection of their hits including ‘Carry you’ and ‘Tonight We Live Together’.
