A LORRY driver has died at the scene of a crash on the A5 near Rugby this morning (Friday).
Officers were called to a serious collision on the A5 which happened at around 1.40am this morning between Kilsby and the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT).
A white HGV travelling south on the A5 towards DIRFT collided with stationary HGVs in a layby. Sadly the driver, a 47-year-old man from Ammanford in Wales, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been named.
Partner agencies have been working overnight to clear a diesel spillage at the scene. It is expected that the road will re-open shortly.
