BREAKING NEWS: Police name man who died in Rugby Road crash and family pay tribute

THE family of 21-year-old George Ireland who died in a crash in Southam last week have paid tribute to their eldest son.

George, of Post Office Lane in Stockton, died as a result of a road traffic collision on the A426 Rugby Road near Southam at 1pm on Thursday, September 15.

A family statement said: “George was our eldest son doing exceptionally well in life and will be dearly missed by us, and so many people who knew him. Thank you for all the support we have received in this very sad time.”

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision that occurred when the blue Renault Clio that George was driving from Rugby towards Southam, left the road and collided with some small trees before going down an embankment into a quarry.

Despite attempts to save him, he was declared dead at the scene.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses to please contact PC 0588 Mick Hogan in the Major Investigation Unit on (01926) 415415.
