A YOUNG Rugby Theatre star has been awarded a place at one of the top drama schools in the country.

Ben Handforth, 18, from Crick, will start at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London in September, as long as he gets Dance and Drama Award funding. Ben said: “Obviously I’m ridiculously excited as Mountview is the place I have always dreamed of going to but now it’s just the wait to see if I get the funding.”

Ben has been a member of Rugby Theatre for almost five years, playing a variety of roles including Dodger in Oliver, Posner in The History Boys, Finch in How to Succeed and Wishee Washee in Aladdin.

Ben’s last production at Rugby Theatre will be La Cage Aux Folles in June and he will also be doing a charity concert in Crick in July or August.
