BREAST Cancer Campaign supporter Gerard Varin has set himself the gruelling challenge of running 740 miles from Derby to Switzerland in just 30 days.

Gerard, 47, is running the equivalent of a marathon every day in April in support of the many women he knows who have been affected by the disease.

The father-of-four stopped at Brownsover Hall on Monday, where he had a much-needed break for the night.

He was joined for 12 miles by Chris Looney and Tristan Hill from Rugby Round Table.

Gerard said: “Rugby Round Table not only sorted out the accommodation with Brownsover Hall for me but donated a fantastic £500 as well.

“It’s such a great cause and I am determined to reach my target of £20,000.”
