Healthy outlook for a Rugby great

Energy costs and the future of specialised manufacturing were on the agenda when MP Mark Pawsey visited a great name of Rugby business.

He was shown around the Morgan Advanced Materials Technical Ceramics factory at Central Park by Oliver Ridd, the firm’s international sales and new business development manager.

He saw the manufacturing process for a range of products, including implants, which are the next generation of artificial joints.

Morgan employs 100 people in Rugby, including two apprentices.

Mr Pawsey added: “Morgan has had a presence in Rugby for over a hundred years and it was fascinating to see how it has diversified the business as technology has advanced and the requirements of its customers have changed.”

Mr Ridd said: “We moved to our new location in 2005 and have significantly diversified our product and capability portfolio since. Morgan provides graduate, placement and apprentice programmes, which the Rugby facility has supported.”
