British Transport Police (BTP) have released CCTV images of a man officers would like to speak to following the attempted theft of a bag from a train at Rugby station.

The incident happened on a train travelling from Birmingham to Northampton at around 7.15pm on Tuesday, May 19.

Investigating officer PC Carl Johnson said: “The victim had placed his holdall in the overhead rack.

“When the train reached Rugby he saw a man, who had boarded the service at Coventry, take his bag from the rack and leave the train.

“The victim chased after the man and asked for his bag which was handed over.”

Officers believe the man in the images could have vital information about the attempted theft and ask him or anyone who recognises him to come forward to assist with their enquiries.
