THE RUGBY and District Art Society has celebrated 75 years of bringing colour and creativity to the town.
It held an awards presentation at its Floor One Gallery exhibition on November 26. Guests, including Rugby mayor Cllr Gwen Hotten, came to view and buy pieces some of the 120 members have produced.
As the artists are a mix of amateur and professional in various forms there were several categories including watercolour, pastels, oils and ‘any other media’ for everything else.
Society committee member Jan Watts said: “It was a superb day for us.
“We were very pleased with the mayor’s speech when she recognised that Rugby needs art and we are the ones leaving artistic footprints on the town.
“We were also excited when the mayor decided to buy one of the paintings.”
