A vibrant community-focused church is celebrating its tenth anniversary in the town with a full line-up of events.
Leaders and ministers at RCCG Harvest Fellowship Church are inviting everyone to join them to celebrate.
The theme is Lifted for Impact and it runs from Saturday, June 8, to Sunday, June 23.
It kicks off with a ball at Coombe Abbey with tickets costing £25.
Prayer and praise events are also taking place.
Organisers also hope to raise awareness of their £450,000 fundraising appeal so they can take over the church building at 35-37 Albert Street.
Celebrations will be hosted by pastors Marola and Steve Hayden and a team of volunteers.
Church member Olakunle Ikuomola said: “We always wanted to make a big impact on the community and that’s exactly what we’re doing.
“It’s a very exciting time for us and we hope to meet lots of new people as part of the anniversary celebrations.”
The building has a fully equipped internet cafe and JobClub and winter shelter. It provides rental space at favourable terms to projects such as Crackerteria.
But church workers are constrained because they have to rent out their best rooms to meet overhead costs.
Olakunle said: “Owning the whole property will allow us to focus on our community action programmes and extend the services we give to the homeless, the jobless and the youth. We hope to get lots of support.”
