The Morgan family from Rugby had a tour of the Cemex plant in Lawford Road after Caitlin, 6, wrote to its UK president to ask why the plant couldn’t be painted pink.

Ian Southcott from Cemex said: “Caitlin wrote to our UK president, Jesus Gonzalez, expressing concern about the appearance of the plant and wanted to know why we couldn’t paint the plant pink!

“During juice and cup cakes, we explained that the colour of the buildings is not our choice (it is dictated by the planning authority) and showed slides of all the tree planting, nature conservation and restoration work we have been undertaking around the plant and on the WRR/Lawford Road junction.

“We then did a tour and took them to the top of the tower.”
