WHAT IS IT? Chelys Consort of Viols

WHERE AND WHEN IS IT? St Edmund’s Church, Thurlaston (CV23 9JY), Sunday August 26, 3pm

WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT IT?

The London-based quartet are masters of their art and two of them recently appeared in the BBC Proms concerts.

They specialise in 16th and 17th century English consort music and the performance will be followed by afternoon tea.

All four musicians have a wealth of experience and all have studied at some of the country’s most prestigious music schools.

Alison Kinder, from Dunchurch, went to Rugby High School before reading music at Oxford and then studying viol at Trinity College of Music. She’s now a keen teacher both privately and on a number of courses, including the Rondo Viol Academy.

The other members of the Chelys Consort of Viols include Emily Ashton, Jenny Bullock, and Ibi Aziz.

Ibi plays regularly with the Rose Consort of Viols and also teaches viol at Morley College in London.

Jenny is currently a busy teacher and performer after studying at the Royal College of Music and Trinity College of Music. Emily studied music at Clare College, Cambridge and at the Royal Academy of Music.
