IT MAY only be October, but Rugby Combined Charities Christmas Card Shop is open.

The shop will once again run from St Andrew’s Church and will support 25 charities.

Rugby Mayor Gwen Hotten launched the project on Saturday, joined by the Rev Mark Beach and Rugby MP Mark Pawsey and Daphne Townsend, chairman of the shop.

Mr Pawsey said: “I was delighted to attend the opening of the Rugby Combined Charities Christmas Card Shop at St. Andrew’s Church again this year.

“It’s a great idea that the monies raised from this initiative, which has been running in the town for many years, goes to a variety of local Charities or local branches of national Charities. Of course it could not take place without the hard work of the volunteers involved in running the operation, and the Rector and Church Wardens of St. Andrew’s Church who provide the venue. I hope it is successful again this year.”
