Groups around the town are getting into the Christmas spirit by holding festive fun events.

Mulled wine, carols and mince pies were just some of the things on offer at a newly-opened care home’s Christmas fair.

Anya Court, in Dunchurch Road, treated residents to a variety of festive delights and local group The Bread Sisters Bakery offered their tasty treats at last Saturday’s event.

Residents also sold their own home-made goodies and Santa Clause and his elves joined in with the fun.

The event included a card stall, ginger bread stand, reindeer food stall, Rugby Dementia Friends stall and lots of visitors.

Hannah Bradford, hospitality services manager at Anya Court, said: “It was a lovely day and the residents had a fabulous time eating mince pies, drinking mulled wine and we raised £72 for Rugby Dementia Support Group.”

Families will have the chance to ‘take a selfie with Santa’ at a Christmas bazaar this weekend.

The event will be held at Wolston Baptist Church, in Main Street, and will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

It is free to enter and runs from 10am to 2pm on Saturday December 6.

Father Christmas will be there and visitors can enjoy tea, coffee and entertainment.

Rugby Rokeby Lions Club’s annual Christmas Float will be touring the town throughout the festive period.

The charity will also be touring around neighbourhoods in Rugby.
