WORKERS at a charity shop in Rugby came up with a colourful way to raise money.

Alison Davies and Diane Costello, who work at Cancer Research UK, got dressed up to promote the launch of the television Stand up to Cancer event.

Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK joined forces for the fundraiser, which featured a host of stars.

Alison, who is manager at the shop in Sheep Street, said: “We thought it would be good to highlight the event so we got dressed up in the Stand up to Cancer colours which are red, green, orange and yellow.

“I’m sure we looked ridiculous but the people of Rugby were very generous and we raised £200 which we were really pleased about.”

They also sold merchandise to raise money.

“Every penny raised will go to research,” added Alison.
