A BUS shelter has been installed on Corporation Street after a lengthy campaign by a borough councillor.

Cllr Sue Roodhouse has spent three years trying to get shelters put on Corporation St near to Asda and the Central Surgery. The lack of shelter has meant that bus passengers have had to put up with being pelted with snow, wind and rain for the past few years while they wait for a bus after work. But Cllr Roodhouse persisted with her campaign to the borough council after the petition she organised attracted 200 signatures.

She said: “As someone who does not drive and uses the bus service I knew that these bus stops needed shelters to keep people dry and also allow people to rest while waiting for the bus. They can make such a difference to someone’s day if they can avoid getting soaking wet. My thanks to all who have supported it. It proves persistence does pay.”
