WILF Smith and Son funeral directors have been brewing cuppas for cash at a charity coffee morning.

The firm has been raising money for Newlife Foundation, which helps care for terminally ill children. Wilf Smith and Son held a coffee morning in August and has been making collections at its premises ever since.

Sharon Everton, administrator, said the first charity event had been a roaring success.

“We had lots of people drop by for the coffee morning and the horse-drawn carriage outside helped generate some extra interest.

“The money we raised is still being collected and counted but I expect we’ll be having more charity events this Christmas and during the spring.”
