The kind-hearted team at Rugby Asda were quick to respond after news broke that part of a large donation of food to Rugby Cats Protection had been stolen from the driveway of one of the charity’s volunteers.
The theft, reported in the Advertiser last week, saw food worth £278 stolen from outside Helen Ledingham’s home while she and her husband were at a funeral.
But Rugby Asda stepped in with an immediate £50 donation and the store’s community champion Allie Scrace said: “A donation trolley Appeal for Rugby Cats Protection will appear in the Rugby Store at the beginning of April for members of the community to donate.”
She is pictured with colleague Shelley Walters, youngster Colm O’Sullivan and Cats Protection volunteers Donna Cave, Eva Goodwin and Helen Ledingham.
Helen said the Asda donation was a big help ahead of the kitten season: “To be able to stock up on kitten supplies in advance is really good for us.”
