Warwickshire’s police and crime commissioner has announced his support for the county’s Stop Rape Now campaign.
Mr Ball hopes it will encourage more people to report rape and change attitudes towards the crime. He said: “As a country we have not taken these crimes anything like seriously enough.
“There is widespread agreement that rape is an under reported crime, so it is one area where I would like to see an increase in reported offences.”
The campaign is organised by Warwickshire Police with support from the NHS, local authorities and victims group The Survivors Trust. A website - stoprapenow.co.uk - has been set up, giving details about what is meant by ‘consent’, and posters are being displayed to dispel common myths about the crime.
