THE total number of people arrested as part of Operation Laser now stands at 58.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen property following the execution of two warrants at addresses in Church Street, Rugby on Wednesday morning.

As a result a 44 year old male has been bailed by police pending further enquiries and a 43 year old male received a police caution.

On Tuesday 13 December Leroy Simpson, aged 32 years, was arrested in prison, where he is serving a sentence for an unrelated matter, and was charged with conspiracy to supply heroin.

Operation Laser, the Warwickshire Police operation to reduce serious and organised crime in the Rugby area, is now 58.

Operation Laser is the biggest operation undertaken by Warwickshire Police to target the supply of Class a drugs, and associated offences, including handling stolen property.

The operation took nearly 12 months to plan and involved more than 300 police officers on each of three enforcement days at the beginning of November when a total of 45 people were arrested. Subsequent arrests since then have resulted in a further 13 arrests.
