UPDATE: Rugby man arrested on suspicion of murder bailed by police

A 21 year old man from Rugby who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The man was arrested following an incident that occurred at 5am on Sunday morning near the taxi rank by the clock tower in Market Place.

Following the incident, 26 year old David Ryding from Moreton in Wirral, Merseyside was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire for assessment after suffering a head injury.

He was put on a life support machine but later died at around 3.30am on Monday.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “It soon became apparent that nothing could be done to save him.”

According to police, several other people were in the area at the time of the incident and witnesses are being asked to come forward.

Two other men, aged 25 and 27, who were arrested for affray as part of the incident have also been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
