A CYCLIST has been fatally injured following a collision with a lorry near the A45 at Dunchurch, Rugby.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called shortly after 7.15pm yesterday (Tuesday) and sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer in a rapid response car to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “It appears that the man was involved in a cycle race at the time of the incident which happened on the Straight mile road near the Little Chef at the junction with the A45.”

“From the outset it was apparent that nothing could be done to save this person who was confirmed dead at the scene.”
