A selfless volunteer from Dunchurch has been recognised by the Queen in the New Year honours list.

Michael Judge has been made an MBE for his services to the Dunchurch community, Coventry University and charities including the Motor Industry charity BEN.

Michael was instrumental in raising the funds required to enable the Village Hall to be built and he has been involved with the Dunchurch Festival Group and Pantomaniacs for over 20 years, helping to raise funds for other village groups, organisations and national charities.

Last summer, Michael directed his 14th play in Dunchurch and has been stage manager with the Pantomaniacs for 28 years.

He is also a member of Coventry University’s HR board, the university’s Pro-Chancellor who conducts the graduation ceremonies, a member of the Heart of England Charitable Committee and chairman of Coventry Sport Trust.

Michael said: “I am very proud of the fact that this award recognises all the wonderful people and organisations I have worked with over the years.

“This is a badge for our village and it really is a lovely place to live. Dunchurch has a great community that raises money and has fun.”
