WHAT IS IT? Coventry artist Jackie Terrett’s latest exhibition.
WHERE AND WHEN IS IT
At Rugby’s Floor One art gallery until Saturday May 12.
WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT IT?
Spurred on by the success of her show in Rugby last year, Jackie has created a selection of dramatic collage works using autumn leaves, fabrics, paint, and threads. The pieces were inspired by the medieval stained glass windows of Fairford Church in Gloucestershire.
Jackie said: “It is very difficult to work with leaves as they become brittle when dried but I find their varied shapes, colours and details fascinating.”
The exhibition will also feature bold and colourful mixed media work as well as new Welsh landscapes and drawings. Jackie’s enthusiasm for Celtic and early Christian art influences many of the exhibits and the artist has said she is optimistic that visitors will find the varied work interesting and thought-provoking.
Jackie studied art at Coventry and Birmingham universities during the 1980s achieving a degree and an MA. She has taught in schools, colleges and universities in the Midlands.
Now dividing her time between rural Leicestershire and North Wales, she retired early to concentrate on her artwork.
There will be the opportunity to meet the artist at the Gallery on Saturday May 5 between 10am and 4pm. The artist can be contacted via the Gallery or her website: jackieterrett-artwork.co.uk
