DUNCHURCH was transformed into a sea of colour for the annual fete and festival at the weekend.
Saturday’s attractions included weird and wonderful costumes, furry friends and music to suit all tastes.
Festivities started with a fancy dress parade through the village followed by a varied programme of entertainments on the sportsfield.
In keeping with the theme of Heroes and Villains, there was a Spitfire plane, a Messerschmitt, a cage filled with children, pulled by the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a 30ft dragon made by the ladies of the WI and a huge walking Guy Fawkes. One
Mike Judge, one of the organisers, said: “It was a bumper event, an absolutely fantastic day.
“There was a sprinkling of rain just before, but luckily it held off.”
Crowds also enjoyed cheerleading, country dancing, alpacas, face-painting and ballet.
He said on the gate alone, £2,500 was raised that will be split between local charities.
