Approval has been given for a new residential care home for the elderly to be built in Dunchurch Road.
The care home, opposite Sainsbury’s, will be three storeys high and consist of 70 bedrooms.
Three detached properties that were on the site have already been demolished to make way for the care home.
The home will provide 24 hour care and include various communal facilities for residents including two cafes, two small shops, cinema, two hairdressers, dining and lounge areas.
The planning application also included space for 24 cars and a cycle shelter.
It is thought that the care home will provide around 70 full time jobs across three shift patterns.
Six neighbours objected to the plans.
Concerns included loss of privacy and trees, noise and out of character with the area.
Following amended plans, two neighbours said that they addressed most of the concerns of the residents Edyvean Close.
The plans were approved by councillors.
