RUGBY’S MP was given a tour around Cwikskip’s new state of the art recycling facility in Butlers Leap.
The service required an investment of over £2 million and is designed to produce a refuse derived fuel. The facility will enable Cwikskip to move closer to its aim of zero waste being sent to landfill sites.
The fuel will be used at the CEMEX Rugby cement plant which means that the waste arising in Rugby is being transformed into a resource that will be used in Rugby.
Mr Pawsey said: “I am delighted that such a facility has now been developed in Rugby and that it will be instrumental in helping both Cwikskip and the community at large to improve on the proportion of waste that is being recycled.
“This is an important investment here in Rugby and one to be welcomed with to its beneficial impact on our local environment.”
