They have teamed up with Master Composters John and Sandy Young for a community composting event at the GEC rec changing rooms in Hillmorton Road on Saturday, March 11, from 9.30am until 1.30pm.

This will show what action individuals can take to deal with food and green waste. Also invited is Love Food Hate Waste, the charity which raises awareness of the need to cut food waste and help people take action.

Cllr Jerry Roodhouse, said: “In the true Liberal tradition we want to empower people to take control of their lives and have a positive impact on their daily routines. We don’t agree with the green bin charge and we have always felt that there is a better way.

“The event on March 11 will show some easy practical everyday things in the home that can ensure we waste less food, which will ultimately benefit our pockets and the environment too.

“It is open to all, so please come along.”
