RUGBY Theatre’s latest production is Noel Coward’s comedy Blithe Spirit, which opens this Saturday at 7.30pm.
Director Ash Hirons said: “Blithe Spirit is an unashamed evening of escapist entertainment. Noel Coward penned the play during the darkest hours of the Second World War. His wish was to give the war-ravaged people of London something to escape to for a few hours of their life.
“We are not so war-torn in 2012 but we have enough economic and social concerns to feel that we also would like some escapism.”
This play is one of Coward’s greatest comedies and the theatre’s production includes an experienced cast along with newcomer Lucy Caren as Edith the Maid to bring this wonderful story to life.
Blithe Spirit runs until Saturday April 21. There are nightly performances at 7.30pm and tickets cost £10. Various discounts are available and there is no show on Sunday April 15.
Tickets can be booked at Rugby Theatre Box Office on (01788) 541234 open between 7pm and 8pm weekdays and 10.30am to 12.30am Saturday.
