TWO Avon Valley students won the scientific trip of a lifetime.

Holly Gilbert and Amelia Hail entered a competition for year nine girls that asked them to write an essay on how they think science has changed the world as well as posing some questions they would want to ask scientists working on the Large Hadron Collider.

They were invited to join pupils from across Warwickshire for a trip to Geneva visit the CERN Laboratory and meet the scientists.

Amelia said: “We met scientists and were able to ask lots of questions, they really inspired me to take science further after GCSE. I wouldn’t have missed the trip for the world.”

Holly said: “Going to Switzerland was seriously a trip of a lifetime.”

Also joining them on the trip were Hannah Marchant, Nimryta Sembi and Bethany Sage of Rugby School.
