A FAMILY kicked off the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning events in Rugby on Monday and raised £1,068 for charity.

Ellen Allan organised an event in Norton Leys with a little help from her daughter Lynne Blakemore.

Around 100 people attended with a lot of support from the United Reformed Church.

The money will go to Macmillan Cancer Support and most coffee mornings will be held tomorrow (Friday).

Ellen would like to thank everybody who supported the event for such a worthwhile cause.

She said: “We would also like to thank Honeycomb hairdressing salon in Bilton for their raffle donation and the therapy services staff at University Hospitals in Bristol.”

She said there is still money coming in from the fundraiser.

“We really appreciate the local support,” added her daughter Lynne.
