Calling all potential women politicians

AN EVENT aimed at encouraging more women into politics is being held in Rugby tomorrow (Wednesday).

Rugby Borough Council, in association with BPW Midlands (Business and Professional Women UK Limited) is holding an open evening for women of the borough interested in local politics.

The event, called 'Women in Local Politics', is to be held in the Council Chamber at the Town Hall Rugby on Wednesday, starting at 7.30 pm.

The event aims to engage women in local government issues with a view to encouraging them to consider the possibility of standing for office.

Councillors from Rugby will take part and explain that it is possible to successfully manage a career, a family and a life in politics.

Topics being covered at the event will include such varied issues as what is involved in being a councillor, what motivates women to become councillors and the challenges that councillors face.

For more information, contact Steve Garrison, Democratic Services Manager at Rugby Borough Council on (01788) 533521.
