How Fearne Cotton's mum has landed local singer with an unlikely hit

THOUSANDS of Radio 1 listeners have gone crazy for a 'random' song produced by Rugby's Sean Rumsey which has made it to the top spot in the iTunes comedy chart.

X Factor star Sean, who comes from Stockton, is the man behind the hilarious song about Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton's mum - the Mumatron Song. It has been such hit that it has made it to number one in the iTunes comedy chart.

Sean, who was a member of Futureproof who made it to the X Factor finals in 2007, said: "It's been amazing and the support has been really good.

"It's not in the UK top 40 chart yet but with a bit more support behind it I think it might be."

Fearne's mum Linda Cotton - affectionately nicknamed Mumatron - started an online blog recently and Sean was asked to come up with a jingle to go with it. Fearne and thousands of Radio 1 listeners picked up on his jingle and loved it so much that Sean released a full version of the song calling it the Mumatron Song.

The song has catchy lyrics including 'Fearne Cotton's mum, she's got it going on.....' complete with a comical video to go with it and a range of strange backing sounds including horse sounds.

Thousands of people have commented on the Mumatron Song on the internet and a Facebook group has even been set up to try and get it to number one.

Sean, 23, said: "It's all very lighthearted and just a bit of fun - the song is really random. I was gobsmacked when Fearne played it in full on Radio 1. This has been an amazing opportunity for me."

Mumatron Song is also raising money for charity with 50 per cent of the profits going to Sport Relief.
