RUGBY ADVERTISER STAMP APPEAL: Huge hoard of stamps adds to collection
MHRA-04-01-12 STAMPS JAN03 (4) Advertiser's stamp appeal
A STAMP enthusiast who has been collecting since he was a young boy is the latest donor to help our Stamp Appeal.
Frank Renshaw has been collecting stamps for around 40 to 50 years.
Mr Renshaw, of Lower Hillmorton Road, is moving house next month and, while having a clear-out, decided to donate his entire collection to the Advertiser stamp appeal.
He said: “We hope that the stamps will fetch a good price to help the poor people of the world. I don’t know how many are there but there must be over 1,000.
“They date back a long way. Good luck.”
Mr Renshaw’s collection includes three collectors stamp album filled with stamps from all over the world.
The stamps are just some of thousands that have flooded in to the Advertiser office during the last week - some of which are thought to be rare.
They have not yet been officially counted by so far we’ve collected around 15,000 stamps. The used stamps will be given to Oxfam and Leukaemia Care to raise money for people in the UK and all over the world.
Keep on saving your stamps! Please kindly drop them off at the Advertiser offices or post them to 2 Albert Street, Rugby CV21 2RS.
